What will my child study? As a parent of a military child, it is important to know what your child will be learning and
the order in which it is taught. Too often our military children can be at a disadvantage
when they miss concepts due to a move to a new school with a different curriculum.
These links will assist you in keeping informed about the curriculum requirements at
the various school districts in and around Fort Jackson. Standards support site links
also provide vocabulary and activities to assist a child transferring in who may have come
from a school with a different curriculum. High School students should compare graduation requirements to their transcripts. South Carolina requires students to pass a high school
exit exam called the HSAP. ( High School Assessment Program)
The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children has
been passed in South Carolina. South Carolina joins 31 other states by
recognizing that the mobile military lifestyle creates tough challenges for
children who attend, on average, six to nine different school systems from
Kindergarten to 12th grade.
