With nearly 100 square miles of huntable training area, Fort Jackson has earned a reputation as a sportsman’s paradise. Annually over 200 whitetail deer are harvested on Fort Jackson. Hunting is open to anyone possessing a DOD identification and their guests. To hunt on Fort Jackson you must possess both appropriate South Carolina licenses as well as permits specific to Fort Jackson, both of which are available at Marion Street Station.  Other hunting opportunities exist on Fort Jackson such as waterfowl, small game, dove and turkeys. Fishing
Fort Jackson offers fishermen many options to reel in the big one. From the smaller ponds located in the cantonment area, to the 250 acre Weston Lake to the wilder ponds located in the training areas, there is plenty of water to catch Largemouth Bass, Shellcrackers, and even a few catfish.
