What’s One Minute of Exercise Going to do For Me?

My life is busy; I work 8 hours a day, take care of my husband, children, dog, cat, yard; how can I even think about working out!  That is such a familiar scenario that chimes from people everywhere.  Our lives are so bus that we don’t have time to exercise.  I think one of the most challenging things about this statement is that we really do want to exercise.  We are tired of feeling so sluggish and full and slow.  We are not pleased with going to the store to buy that larger size with an elastic waistband.  But what can we do?  Your lives are quite demanding and even though you have hired the personal trainer and manage to get to the gym once or twice a week (if you are lucky), you know more is still needed.  You need some form of supplement (not pills) as a filler to get in that workout wherever you can.  This type of option is not meant to replace your current efforts of getting to the gym 2 days a week or meeting with your personal trainer.  This is more bang for your body so remember you are not trying to replace your current workouts; you are always trying to add to them.

With that being said, how can you take advantage of where you are and incorporate a bit of exercise in it?  If you are an office worker (for example) your chair can become a rewarding piece of office equipment that can also double as a work bench to do dips which will work the backs of your arms.  Your desk which holds your computer, also makes a great solid foundation that you can hold onto and do lunges to trim your thighs or side leg lifts to trim your outer thighs.  Lean into your desk and do pushups for your chest; take a seat in your chair and bring both knees towards your chest and back out again at the same time for one minute and exercise your stomach; the options can be endless and remember, you are only doing one thing for a minute!  Your office can become a gym one minute at a time.  You don’t have to behave like the traditional gym; putting in all your time at once and sweating to the point where you offend yourself.  Just do something a minute then go back to your memo, desk, or meeting (if you took a bathroom break).  It’s unfortunate that we have to get creative with one minute, but that is where we are today.  Technology helps and hurts and with that said, our time has become more precious and our bodies are paying for it dearly.  Minutes matter (even in exercise).

My message calls for you using your minutes wisely.

Yours in health
